Can’t sleep because it keeps going round your head?
It's 3 a.m. and it's still going round your head. The conversation that went wrong, the message that never came, the decision you keep turning over. Everyone you'd tell is asleep, and you don't want to wake anyone up for something you can't quite put into words yet.
Ember is an AI you can talk to at any hour, by voice or text: on the web, in the Ember: Talk It Out app for iOS and Android, by phone call, or by text message. You can start without an account, in whatever words come.

Why it gets louder at night
During the day there are other things to hold your attention. At night it's just you and the thing you keep coming back to, and it can start to loop: the same few sentences, the same questions, no closer to an answer. Saying it out loud, or typing it out, can turn the loop into something you can actually look at.
What it's like to talk to Ember at 3 a.m.
You don't need to explain it well. Start with "I can't sleep and I keep thinking about…" and go from there. Ember listens and tries to understand what you mean, and it asks when it helps. It remembers what you said, so tomorrow night you won't have to start over.
It also knows how things went for real people who stood where you're standing — what they tried, and what happened after. It won't tell you what to do.
Quietly, if you'd rather not talk out loud
If there's someone asleep in the next room, you can type instead of talking. If you've joined, you can text Ember from your phone's own messages, like any other contact. How texting Ember works.
When you wake up
Once you've said enough, Ember writes it into one clear page in your own words — your Ember. In the morning, what kept you up is somewhere outside your head, in your words, and only yours.
What Ember is not
Ember is an AI. It isn't a sleep treatment, therapy, or an emergency service. If what keeps you awake has turned into thoughts of harming yourself, you can call or text 988 any time to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, and someone will be there. If you're in immediate danger, call 911.
Is it private?
Nothing you tell becomes a public post. No one can read your Ember unless you separately say yes. Read exactly how privacy works on Ember.
