When the Daily Messages Stopped

I met a woman on a dating app, and we started chatting a lot. We talked every night, shared what we were doing, and met for dinner or lunch. Even when we were sitting in a restaurant, we talked for a long time. Everything felt normal to me, like our conversations had been before we met.

But when I went home after meeting her, the messages stopped. She had been connecting with me every day and telling me about her life, and then she did not reply for about a day—not even when I sent a message. The change was unusual, and I became nervous. I started wondering whether she had been disappointed when she saw me, whether she no longer liked me, or whether something had happened to her.

I was caught between wanting to call because I was worried and not wanting her to feel forced to respond. If she was busy, I thought, she would normally tell me. I still do not know what the silence meant. I only know that after so much regular contact, one quiet day was enough to make me question the whole connection—and to hesitate over whether reaching out would be care or pressure.
