From Far Away

I gave everything. It still wasn’t enough.

In high school, there was a girl I thought was beautiful. I did not even know which class she was in, but I saw her whenever class ended. I started following her every day. When the term ended, we had exams and could choose our classes. I did well, and I chose the class she was in. That gave me more chances to know her, but I still could not find the courage to say hello.

So I cared for her from far away, in ways she never saw. When her bike was broken, I fixed it silently. If she needed something, I bought it and left a pencil or notebook on her desk without telling her. Even after we graduated, she did not know that I knew her or that I liked her. If I had the chance now, I think I would say something. Back then, I had no courage, and all I could do was stay near her without being seen.
