Trying to save a relationship that may be over

6 people have stood here

Ask what they went through

Ember has listened to everyone who stood here. Answers come from all of them together, never from any one.

Ember thinks it through with you, wherever you start.

What happened here, week by week

  • Week of September 28· 6 new Embers from 4 people· Written October 5, 2026

Some of them reached out again after telling themselves they would stop, because the quiet had gotten harder to carry than the risk of no answer. A small gesture from the other side — an apology, something offered without being asked — was enough to turn the week from nothing into something, even though it explained nothing about what had gone wrong. More than one of them kept circling the same question: whether the change underway was real, or only a way to keep the relationship from ending. They were willing to keep waiting, but not forever, caught between wanting it to work and needing to know if it still could.

A week gets an entry when at least five new Embers arrive. Drawn from everyone who arrived that week, never from any one of them.

How this page works

What can I ask here?

What the people who stood here went through: what they tried, what changed, what came after. Type your own question, or take one that someone here asked before you.

Where do the answers come from?

From the people who stood here. Each of them told Ember what happened to them; Ember reads all of it together and answers only with what at least two of them share. No sentence is one person’s story.

Why didn’t my question get an answer?

Nobody here has been through that part yet, or only one person has. The answer grows as more people stand here.

What does “stood here” mean?

Each of them told Ember something that happened to them, and their page was placed on this light. The pages stay theirs; only the count is public.

What happens if I tell my part?

You get one clear page of what happened, in your words, yours to keep. Nobody sees it. If Ember later finds one person who lived something close, it asks you first whether you want it to ask them.
